We're Home

We are home!!!! And we are thankful!
We survived the ultimate challenge of traveling for 20 hours on 3 different planes with a 3 and 1 year old who we've known for 7 days.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. We definitely needed it and felt strength and rest when we needed it most.

The last two days have opened up a whole new world to our boys. The fascination with escalators, ice cubes, and in flight entertainment. Discovering the remote and individual tv screen made for the best day of Seth's whole life. His world came crashing in however when his parents insisted after one movie that he stop watching and go to sleep (our flight from Ethiopia left at midnight).

Colin is adjusting well. He's pretty happy and content to play and be fed. His smile and laughter warm my heart. He's walking (a suprise to us) and into everything. He's easily distracted though so it's working out well. He made friends from Addis Ababa to Kansas City with his charming personality and dimpled grin.

It was fun to watch Seth in his journey of discovery. He would find something new and then want to tell us all about it. The staff at the care center have been talking with him about airplanes and the trip he was going to take so he didn't seem scared or nervous about it at all. His adjustment has been a bit more challenging. Change is hard for anyone but when you're 3...it's especially difficult. We're loving on him as much as possible and pretty soon he'll know that this is his permanent home and we are his permanent people. He's enamored by his daddy. He's never more than a few feet away and when John would leave to check us into our flights or go to the bathroom, Seth was very worried that we'd leave without him. He likely hasn't had many male caregivers so being loved so much by his daddy is a special thing.

Our goal for the next couple of days is to lay low and get some semblance of a routine (and sleep as much as possible). I'll also try to work on our travelogue with pictures so you can see and hear more about our trip.

It is so good to be home.
